I love sharing success stories! For me success is not only an end goal, it includes all the steps we take along the way to make a positive difference. A success that I LOVE to celebrate is the beginning of a wellness journey (especially if they are delicious ;-). I have recently had the opportunity to teach and inspire A.C. who has decided (after some hesitation!) to take the plunge and start learning how to become his own Everyday Whole Foods Chef! Above: One of the first things people notice when grocery shopping with me, is that for the first time, their shopping cart is filled with fresh whole foods like veggies, oils, legumes, whole grains and herbs & spices. Of course we still include healthy treats like cacao ;-) While it can be a little bit intimidating at first to see only whole foods at the check out, fears are quickly alleviated once they begin to integrate the 5 Secrets for Everyday Healthy.
Inspiration is the First Ingredient
A.C.: "Cooking for myself has probably been the weakest link in my life. I take really good care of myself emotionally, spiritually and through physical exercise, but I have been infamous about my fear and lack of knowledge about cooking.So it has been a long time idea to take lessons. I feel so much inspiration with Julie’s LOVE of food. I realized that if I was going to learn to cook more, I’d need to find my LOVE for it and approach it as a Hobby not an obligation. And to me Inspiration is the key, and I so beautifully get this doing one-on-one classes with Julie."
Above: We transformed what looked like boring red lentils into a delicious Red Lentil Mediterranean Soup. Red Lentils are one of my favs. They can be cooked in 20 minutes or less to create a delicious and filling meal that freezes well. The soup featured Mediterranean herbs like Rosemary, Thyme and Oregano. Pssst...these are basic herbs that are versatile so I have included these herbs on my Everyday Pantry Shopping List.
Inspiration LOVES the Positive Thinking Flavour
A.C: "In my home country, as a male child I was not even allowed in the kitchen. If I would try, I’d be told to go and study instead and that the food would be taken care of. Unfortunately this did not prepare me well for life. Also, I have memories of my mother not finding her love of preparing food at times as we lived in a very small and old house, and I remember her at times struggling in the kitchen. I realize that our past experiences can greatly affect our approach to things. I feel it is time for me to find a Total Transformation about my experience with cooking and all the associations it has for me. I see this as a great commitment to furthering my self-care and addressing the weakest link in my life!"
A.C: "My greatest insight after my first class with Julie, again, is the importance of finding one’s Love and Inspiration for healthy cooking and eating. I realized that in a market I’d normally spend most of my time in Chocolate Section not the Produce or the Bulk Foods section. Shopping with Julie as part of my first class, I Found my Passion for hanging out in the Produce and Bulk Foods sections in the market!"

Little do most realize, this is where the most delicious and affordable food resides ;-) This section is not so scary as it seems once you learn some of the Secrets for Everyday Healthy like flavour combining to make food Delicious, how to prepare something once and use it 2+ times to make healthy eating Quick, and learn several uses for the same ingredient to make everyday whole foods Easy,
A.C. "I am noticing that I do feel really good when I eat my own home cooked food. I also notice that I feel really good when I am preparing the food and feeling the live energies emanating from whole foods. Even just holding them, touching them feels healing and enlivening. I am a very kinesthetic person and I can see the pleasure in preparing one’s own food by hand."
A.C. "In the first class I enjoyed the whole process so much! I loved trying Coconut Oil for the first time, I thought it was delicious trying it straight! What I probably enjoyed the most is learning more about what we were preparing and to feel empowered to do these by myself. I absolutely love the Mediterranean Red Lentil Soup!"

Of course. no class is ever complete without learning new whole food flavour pairings. Why? Because this is Secret #4for putting the Delicious into Everyday Healthy. So, I asked A.C. to share his new favourite flavour combination.
A.C. "I have always LOVED Rosemary, and now I am learning how much Rosemary LOVES Thyme and Oregano!"
