One of the things I enjoy most about my job, is meeting all the enthusiastic people who are keen on making change delicious for their health and the planet. Daisy, who is originally from the U.K. and recently decided to make Vancouver her home, contacted me because she wanted to learn how to adopt whole plant-based lifestyle. Yet, she was feeling overwhelmed with information, was unsure of the basic ingredients to include in her pantry and had no idea where to start.
Daisy invited me to teach her and her twin sister Rosie (isn't that cute?;-) the 5 Secrets to make Everyday Healthy convenient, quick, easy, delicious, & affordable. Equipped with recipes, shopping lists, flavour profiles and kitchen equipment I made my way to Daisy's flat and I was greeted by a surge of enthusiasm for learning the art of whole plant-based everyday like Daisy and Rosie. Their excitement was so contagious, I was inspired to share the beginning of their journey to becoming their own Everyday Whole Foods Chef.
My interview with Daisy below is in honor of celebrating the small steps we take in life towards making positive change for our bodies and the planet ~ absolutely delicious. Life is short, so why not? Perhaps in the very near future they will be sharing some of their own healthy recipes with you.

Daisy: There were a few reasons that led me to my decision to live a whole plant-based food lifestyle. Firstly, with a desk job, it was too easy for me to snack on foods that promised to be healthy options, but where in fact, packed full with calories and additives.

I didn't feel good or healthy. I was becoming increasingly aware of additives and preservatives being stuffed into store bought foods. I began to look into other options and began to enjoy more whole plant-based foods. I felt so much better for taking this route and my interest in wanting to learn more about a whole plant-based foods lifestyle took off from there!
Daisy: I learned so much during the consultation! Julie is so knowledgeable and she presented so many interesting facts. The thing that really stuck with me is that learning to live a whole plant-based foods lifestyle is so EASY! It's so simple and all so healthy and fresh. I found so much of the food we cooked tastier than the store-bought equivalent.

Not only did it taste better, but I was feeling better: more energetic, more focused and more determined to keep up with the lifestyle! I was also so grateful to Julie for her awesome guidance and inspiration as to how to start living this lifestyle. Her recipe ideas are fantastic and we had so much fun learning in her lesson!
Daisy: I loved ALL the pairings - they are all so delicious! But one of my faves is the Basil with Zughetti. It's a really nice clean and refreshing taste. I also really enjoyed the pairings of cashews, coconut oil and lemon in the cheezecake. The textures and flavours work so beautifully together! A little 'side' tip Julie gave us is that apples taste really good with Rosemary - and I haven't stopped eating my apples without it now! It's so yummy!
