My Philosophy

Picture
My mission is to provide you with the practical knowledge and tools you need to eat healthy everyday for optimal physical health and mental clarity so we can live whole, purposeful lives and support a food system that is respectful of life. I respect and appreciate the diversity of holistic approaches towards food and nutrition that share the common objective of wholeness, health and peace. I believe that mindful eating, listening to your body and loving the food you eat are the first and most important steps that we can all take towards healthy eating.

Left: Cheezecake (raw and vegan!) with Chocolate Hemp Sauce. Healthy delish treats are an important part of whole foods lifestyle - in my books anyways;-)

While we all have different dietary needs, most of us can benefit from eating:
  • a wide variety of whole foods;
  • a diet composed primarily of plants;
  • as much organically and sustainably grown foods as possible;
  • lots of local, seasonal and fresh produce;
  • an abundance of raw, living and alkaline forming foods.

In class the dishes are prepared using whole plant-based foods with as much organic and local ingredients as possible. The recipes are inspired from various ethnic cuisines and holistic nutritional approaches including veganism, raw food, ayurvedic and macrobiotic philosophies. While we only use plant-based ingredients, the classes are designed to benefit and appeal to everyone who loves great tasting food.

"Julie has an incredible way of making other people excited about not only food but about healthy food! Her class was fun and informative, and we made many things I had never tried before. Julie has a wealth of food knowledge to share and has taken a very thoughtful and loving approach to her classes."
